        <title>Pharmacy Technician Outpatient</title>

        <description>Full Time 9am to 5:30pm Days        GENERAL SUMMARY:
 
Under the direction of the Manager, Ambulatory Pharmacy and the Registered Pharmacists, is responsible for assisting with various aspects of prescription processing. Receives prescription from patients and determines if the prescription contains all information necessary to meet legal criteria.  Reviews prescription and patient profile to determine it has all necessary information to fill the prescription and bill properly. Prepares medication for dispensing .  Presents medication to the pharmacist for verification and approval. Enters patient profile data and third party information into computer. Assists with the extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and the bulk compounding of prescription and over-the-counter items. Performs pharmaceutical stocking functions and reorders pharmaceuticals as necessary.  Removes any outdated or nearly outdated stock. Performs filing and other clerical duties, such as answering phones and taking refill and medical supply orders. May operate the cash register according to department policies and procedures.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, and Skills
 
Must be 18 years of age with high school diploma.  Strong background in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics sufficient to understand pharmaceutical terminology.  Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounding.   Must be detailed oriented, have the ability to make precise measurement.  Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.  Demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow and perform well under pressure. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills in responding to internal and external customers displaying a pleasant, respectful demeanor.  
 
REQUIRED LENGTH AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE:
 
Minimum six months related experience or successful completion of Pharmacy Technician Program may substitute for the required work experience. Familiarity with computers sufficient to perform data entry functions of the position. Ability to use standard cash register, including the preparation of daily reconciliations.
 
REQUIRED LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRY:
 
Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.  
 
REQUIRED PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
 
Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.</description>

The retail Pharmacist, under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, performs clinical and professional work in the compounding and dispensing of prescriptions. The pharmacist is also responsible for maintaining and updating patient profiles, obtaining medications, compounding pharmaceuticals, supervision of technicians, and patient counseling. The retail pharmacist or (PIC) is also responsible for ensuring the pharmacy meets all state/federal laws and regulations in conjunction with the director of pharmacy. 
 
 
Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm D from an accredited college of pharmacy required. 
 
Experience: One year of retail Pharmacy experience or internship preferred. 
 
Licensure, Registration, Certification: Current Missouri Pharmacist License.
