Southside Hospital is in Suffolk County located in the town of Bay Shore, New York.  It is considered a community hospital, yet our 377- bed facility provides an extensive range of specialty services. This includes Level II Trauma Center and ICU, Acute Respiratory Unit, Telemetry, Radiation Oncology Center, Vascular Institute, Maternal-Child Center, the Peter Cushing Institute of Neurosciences and Medical/Surgical Units.  Recently, our hospital was designated by New York State to perform elective angioplasty.
 
1.      Collaborates with members of the health care team in coordinating and implementing plans for patient care.  May record patient history for medical staff review.
2.      Performs measurement and screening procedures according to protocol which may include, but is not limited to, height, weight, head circumference, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, audiometry and vision testing.  Records and plots findings on patient chart.
3.      Collects specimens including drawing blood, and/or assists the physician or nurses in collection of specimens, as required.  Completes requisitions, labels and routes specimens according to standard procedure.
4.      May perform electrocardiograms in accordance with physician orders.
5.      Assists physicians and nurses with examinations and procedures related to the clinical area-of-assignment. 
Secures supplies,
Ensures patient is properly undressed and draped,
Provides instruments to physicians,
Holds patient as required, and
Assists patient after examination.
6.      Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stocks assigned rooms and cupboards and insures that par levels of supplies are maintained on a daily basis.
7.      Insures that all data collected for procedures performed is recorded clearly and accurately on appropriate forms and in medical records.
8.      Performs variety of other functions such as maintaining medical records, processing insurance forms, preparing financial records, etc.
9.      Performs related duties, as required.

  2.         Identify and develop strengths in staff members; work collaboratively with staff members to improve skills as needs or deficiencies are identified.
  3.         Promote excellent patient experience by auditing / monitoring Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and tools (e.g., patient wait times, Acknowledgment Introduction Duration Explanation Thank You (AIDET), accuracy of registration data collected / documented, etc.).
  4.         Measure / monitor employee performance with respect to defined productivity and accuracy goals.
  5.         Monitor work volumes and flex staff roles / complements to actual volumes to ensure that productivity and budget goals/constraints are achieved.
  6.         Review / Monitor specific reports / data to validate departmental compliance with established processes / procedures and to promote accurate and complete reimbursement for patient services while minimizing bad debt and rework.
  7.         Train and orient new staff members to department and facility policies and procedures.  Conduct periodic ongoing training for incumbent staff.
  8.         Ensures that equitable practices are upheld in hiring, training, performance assessment, promotions, demotions, and disciplinary actions.  Strives to create and maintain a high level of employee morale, demonstrating a professional attitude and ability to relate to all patients, employees and staff members.

  Performs a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic/x-ray equipment and making radiographs of designated parts of the body.  Assists in all invasive procedures performed in the Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Special Procedures/Electrophysiology lab. The staff in this position will work as part of a team with physician, registered nurses, and cardiovascular technicians.

Graduation from an approved program in Radiologic Technology is required, as well as current Illinois licensure and current registration by ARRT. At least 1-3 years of related cath lab experience required.

Under the supervision of  the Department Director/Manager, the respiratory Care Supervisor assures that hospital and departmental policies and procedures are followed properly and efficiently. The Supervisor coordinates activities of the technical staff to assure that invasive and non-invasive procedures are carried out as prescribed. HFMC is part of the internship program affiliated with Augustine College.
