        <title>Biomedical Tech III</title>

        <description>Full-time 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Days        Position Purpose &amp;amp; Summary: provide high level of expertise in the maintenance and repair complex surgical, critical care, and imaging instrumentation located within the hospital. Provide technical leadership and guidance to other Biomedical technicians.Maintains accurate documentation to meet JCAHO and DHS requirements as they pertain to Surgery. Under limited direction, responsible for providing data back up, recovery and security procedures. Establishes a logging procedure or facility to ensure the integrity of the database. Has responsibility for the physical management of the Biomedical Engineering data, including regulatory documentation and report production, for various committees, agencies and management presentations. 
Performs repairs on surgical biomedical instrumentation.   Performs preventive maintenance on all surgical biomedical instrumentation. When directed instructs hospital personnel in the proper use biomedical instrumentation. Maintain technical proficiency including four hours per year of documented personal time. Maintains competence and professional development. Maintains license, certification or registration as required. Maintain awareness of restricted procedures in all patient areas. Completes paperwork and computer entry accurately. Orders necessary repair parts and maintain required parts inventory.   Performs incoming and acceptance inspections on any new, rented or equipment for evaluation entering the hospital before it is put into service. Removes unsafe or malfunctioning equipment from patient areas; notifies supervisor of the removal of malfunctioning equipment. Inspects patients&apos; personal electrical and electronics equipment located in patient rooms. Provides emergency service for biomedical equipment. Make sure documentation is accurate and complete. 
Assists manager and supervisor with administrative tasks such as the review of procedure, equipment evaluations and implementation of the Equipment Management Program.Becomes proficient in using Equipment Data Management System and provides input to improve it.Maintains age specific safety precautions including:-        No small or sharp objects or tools will be left out unattended.-        Hallways and pathways will be free of debris, equipment or liquid spillsProvides input to the preparation of budgets for Facility Operations.Designs and develops new equipment in accordance with physician&apos;s specifications. Designs systems to integrate mix and/or match inputs and outputs.Implements the Childrens Hospital, Mission and Values into daily activitiesPerforms other duties as requested.

Equipment/Machines Used: Defibrillator analyzer, electro surgical analyzer, electrical safety analyzer, Patient simulator, Oscilloscope, digital/analog multi meter, frequency counter, power supplies, function generator, various hand tools, ultrasound output analyzer, TENS output analyzer, gas flow analyzer, anesthesia gas analyzer, laser power meter, Anesthesia machine, cell savers, ventilator, blood pumps and other electronic diagnostic equipment. 
A great degree of individual responsibility on the part of the technician is required. Approximately only one third of the workload is performed in the workshop, while two thirds is performed in patient care areas. 
To provide the highest quality technical service and to reduce the downtime of essential surgical systems, while completing all scheduled work as required.Interface with medical and nursing personnel, and keeping a professional approach at all times. 
Minimum Education/Training Required: A.S. in Biomedical Electronics including basic courses in data processing or database administration. Military equivalent accepted. Preferred: B.S. or higher in Biomedical Engineering Minimum Experience Required: Three years experience in surgical setting plus AS degree. Five years related hospital experience plus AS degree, or Ten years related hospital experience. Certification from manufacturer on Anesthesia Machines. 
License, Registration or Certification Preferred: CBET from ICC/USCC only.        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Knowledge of the operation, underlying physiological principles and safe, practical, clinical application of biomedical equipment. Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or Business Administration. Data processing experience required. Knowledge of TJC and county and state regulations as they apply to medical instrumentation.</description>

        <description>Full Time Monday - Friday 8:00 to 4:30 Days        Will support the research and clinical operations of the Center for Motion Analysis by providing 1) assistance with biomechanical modelling development and associated software development on a MatLab platform, 2) provide back up for computer operation during clinical operations as needed, 3) provide technical and biomechanical assistance for research consistent with the mission of the Center for Motion Analysis and 4) support of the teaching/education responsibilities consister with the Center&apos;s mission. 
BS in Engineering and MS in Engineering and/or Biomechanics (or related fields) is required. Minimum 3-5 years related work experience to develop skills in inverse dynamics, three dimensional skeletal modeling, general programming skills ( e.g. Matlab, Labview), data conversion and knowledge of VICON workstation, Polygon, Bodybuilder. Exposure to three-dimensional gait analysis methods is also desired. Candidates must have a demonstrated interest in the application of biomechanics in a clinical setting.</description>
