$1M US grant to train Detroit science teachers

A summer institute on environmental health issues for Detroit Public Schools science teachers is receiving support through a $1 million federal stimulus grant to Wayne State University.

The National Institutes of Health grant also funds curriculum supplements for Wayne State education students.

The university said Wednesday the program will supply material on “historical, contemporary and emerging issues in environmental health.” That includes the genetic code, genetic engineering, mutations and trends in biotechnology.Read Full Article
